This is from my Joy of cooking printed in 1972.
1 baked pie shell

Combine in the top of a double boiler:
1 cup sugar
5 to 6 tablespoons cornstarch
1/8 teaspoon salt.
Add very gradually:
2 cups milk.
Stir and cook these ingredients over, not in, hot water for about 8 to 12 minutes or until the mixture thickens. Cover and cook for about 10 minutes more, stir occasionally. Remove from heat. Pour a little of the mixture over 3 beaten egg yolks. Beat this and return the whole mixture to the double boiler. Cook and stir over boiling water for another 5 minutes. Remove from heat. Beat in 3 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup lemon juice
2 teaspoons grated lemon rind. Cool the custard, then pour into bakes pie shell. Cover with meringue

To make meringue:
preheat oven to325 degrees. Whip till frothy 2 egg whites.
Add: 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar.
Whip till stiff. Beat in 3 tablespoons sugar slowly, 1/2 teaspoon at a time. Beat in 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Top the lemon filling with the meringue and then bake for 10 to 15 minutes. That’s it.

I don’t know about any “Bucca di Peppa’s” Sounds like a up and coming franchise name to me, but if you want a real Italian lemon chicked recipe, here’s the one in my family cook book. All rights reserved, enjoy:

Italian Lemon Chicken

Ingredients:

2 lemons
1 cup dry white wine
1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
5 tablespoons chopped fresh herbs (sag, thyme, rosemary, parsley, basil)
2 cloves garlic, minced
3 to 4 pounds chicken, cut into serving pieces
salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

1. Grate the zest of the lemons into a bowl large enough to hold all of the chicken pieces, then squeeze in all the lemon juice, holding back the seeds.

2. Whisk in wine, 1/4 cup olive oil, herbes and garlic. Add chicken pieces, turning them to coat well in the marinade. Refrigerate for several hours.

3. Preheat oven to 350F. Heat remining 2 tablespoons olive oil in a frying pan. Drain chicken pieces, reserving the marinade, and saute over medium heat until they are golden crisp on all sides (about 5 to 7 minutes.)

4. Transfer chicken to a baking dish large enough to hold all of the chicken pieces in one layer.

I have seen this cake sold in the bakery section at Wal-Marts nationwide for years. It is always baked in a tube pan and packaged upside down in a plastic tube pan. It’s about 3-4″ tall and the glaze/frosting has a grainy sugary texture. It is not flipped upside down and then glazed like most Bundt/tube pan cakes. It is frosted just as it came out of the oven. It has a deep yellow color which I suspect comes from food coloring. I have tried with other lemon cake recipes but they never come out with the right lemony taste and texture. This cake is thick and crumbly like a pound cake (it’s nothing like an angel food cake), but it is also light. It’s very sweet and moist and literally melts in your mouth like sugar. I have searched the Internet upside down for this recipe with zero results. Help!!!
